Open for self-guided walks beginning on First Friday, November 7.
Enter Spring Commons through the gates beside 225 E Redwood Ave.
The Driftwood Labyrinth invites you to experience an alternative way of marking time through quiet reflection and the rhythm of your own measured steps. Handcrafted by local artist Nathan Maxwell Cann, the labyrinth is assembled from lost and gnarled timbers, tide-worn and sun-bleached beams, and cast-off and forgotten wreckage of storms surrendered by the sea. It is a temporary construction that recognizes the transient beauty of the present moment.
The structure will be built following the Día de los Muertos event on Sunday, November 2nd, where the veil between this world and the other is ripest for transformation.
Programming accompanying the Driftwood Labyrinth will include a reception where Nathan will reflect upon the cultural and spiritual histories of labyrinths and a performance by beloved avant-folk theatre troupe, Théâtre de la Liberté. Dates to be announced.
